  School Outreach Programme

The IMCB School Outreach Programme was launched in August 2004, shortly after IMCB completed its move to Biopolis. The first of its kind here in Singapore, this programme is a collaboration between IMCB and the Ministry of Education (MOE). A pilot run was conducted in August 2004 involving 160 students from 19 secondary schools and junior colleges and it received accolades from both students and scientists.

The School Outreach Programme provides students with an opportunity to carry out experiments in a research laboratory and to learn about current developments in Science. Through this experience, students may be encouraged to pursue future careers in the Life Sciences.

Workshops are conducted weekly for 3 consecutive days during school curriculum time. Students are engaged in activities that include lectures, hands-on experiments, discussions on topical issues as well as presentations of their results.
