Project Officer position

Date available: immediately

Date posted: 27 May, 2015

General description
NTU/IMCB PI Prof Pär Nordlund is recruiting a Project officer. The group uses a Systems Structural Biology approach to study function and mechanism of proteins in signaling, metabolism and membrane transport pathways with implications for cancer and inflammation. Many of these projects are the targets for our Structure based drug design team. The group has also a team working extensively with a newly technology, CETSA (see Science publication below) whereby monitoring thermostability of proteins in the cell, we are able to study for ex. drug target engagement, off-target effects and resistance. The laboratory is well equipped with state-of-the-art instruments for e.g. protein chemistry and biophysics, crystallography and cell biology, and is supported by a HTP protein production platform.

Currently, we have a Project Officer position available working with biophysical ligand screening in cells.

The applicant will join a team exploring the new breakthrough technology for monitoring drug actions in cells and tissues. The applicant should have some cell biology experience and preferably experience in working with drugs and chemical probes and many different cell lines. Some Mass spectrometry experience or/and experience in working with tissue samples is also advantageous.

Selected publication: Monitoring drug target engagement in cells and tissues using the cellular thermal shift assay. Martinez Molina D, Jafari R, Ignatushchenko M, Seki T, Larsson EA, Dan C, Sreekumar L, Cao Y, Nordlund P. Science. 2013 Jul 5;341(6141):84-7.
