Senior Officer (Administration)

The duties of the Senior Officer (Administration), include, but are not limited to the following:
1)    travel and seminar/meeting arrangements for local and international visitors
2)    conference and business travel arrangements for IMCB researchers
3)    administrative assistance to various IMCB committees
4)    IMCB event management, including conference planning
5)    assist in the preparation of presentations
6)    being part of the IMCB Crisis Management Team
7)    other ad hoc duties

Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in the Biomedical/Life Sciences

  • Excellent planning, analytical and organisational skills

  • Well versed in computer applications such as Powerpoint, Excel and other MS Office software.

  • A self-driven and meticulous individual who possesses good interpersonal skills and works well in a team-based environment

  • The ability to work with researchers and administrative staff

  • On-the-job training will be provided

R & D Head - Antibody Development Center

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to lead an antibody development unit at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in support of A*STAR’s ongoing initiatives in the medical technologies and biopharmaceutical sectors. The incumbent will provide scientific and operation leadership to the unit which will be responsible for the generation of novel antibodies as well as products related to antibodies and its ancillary product lines. The successful candidate is also expected to work closely with researchers, clinicians, regulators and industry partners to develop best-in-class antibodies for life science and diagnostic applications.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new antibody targets, design antigen, purify antibody, and develop various antibody-based applications. Previous experience in monoclonal antibody development and antibody engineering is required.

  • Knowledge and bench skills in immunogen rational designing, molecular cloning, recombinant protein expression and monoclonal antibody development / characterization are essential. Experience in hybridoma scale-up and production is a plus.

  • Define and implement an operational plan and use this to define the required resources, processes and appropriate organizational structure, including investments in infrastructure and capital expenditures. Must be able to lead a team of scientists in daily laboratory operations to achieve antibody production and quality targets.

  • Develop and provide regular briefings to executives and internal stakeholders on key performance indicators. Able to communicate effectively, multi-task and work in a dynamic environment. Proven leadership and people management skills are essential.

  • Establish a robust hiring and management oversight of personnel involving regular staff and individual meetings, and performance reviews to achieve a cohesive and high impact operational team.

  • Enable the coordination and execution of exploratory biomarker hypothesis testing and validation in the clinic through collaborations with academic or industry partners, clinicians and biobanks.

  • Develop relationships with internal and external key investigators, scientists, clinicians, regulators and industrialcollaborators in the diagnostic technology field so as to inform internal IVD strategies and undertake partnerships to develop diagnostics solutions in applications such as anatomic pathology, immunoassays and companion diagnostics.

  • Integrate antibodies with novel detection platforms to generate multidisciplinary innovations in point of care devices for key disease areas. This requires strong understanding and experience with development of diagnostic assays and devices.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree, in a life sciences field with domain knowledge and understanding of fundamental principles in: immunology, molecular biology, protein chemistry and related fields with an emphasis in antibody-related engineering and applications in research and commercial fields.

  • 7+ years of relevant academic or / and commercial experience involving management of technical operational teams and building organizational capabilities in antibody development, production, engineering, molecular biology, cloning, expression and QC.

  • Project management experience is desired.

  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

  • Working knowledge of basic process mapping, value stream analysis.

  • A track record of successful cross-functional engagement.

  • Able to establish durable, productive and professional relationships with cross-functional internal teams and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Able to travel up to 10%

Bioinformatician position

A Postdoctoral Bioinformatician position is available immediately at the IMCB Epigenetics and Cell Fates Laboratory. The laboratory is interested in dissecting the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms regulating cell fate changes, while developing novel tools and strategies in deriving differentiated cell types via defined factors reprogramming.

Applicants with a strong background in Bioinformatics and next-generation sequencing data analysis are invited to apply. Successful candidates must be highly motivated, have passion for research and be able to work in an interdisciplinary environment.

Requirements:

- Ph.D. from a well-recognized institution with a strong research background in Bioinformatics  
  /Computer science/Biostatistics or equivalent
- Experience in bioinformatics and data analysis for DNA microarray, ChIP-seq and RNA-seq
- Experience with open source bioinformatics tools
- Excellent analytical, technical and problem solving skills
- Knowledge with biostatistics highly desirable
- Self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast moving interdisciplinary team
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
- Committed and able to work flexible hours
- Excellent communication, technical writing and presentation skills
